Artistic millwork has taken deck building to new heights. We will only use natural
material on the high end of the spectrum that represents the quality we instill. Black locust, teak, sassafras, and red cedar are the materials of choice due to their natural resistance to rot and stability.
We will not use treated materials or composite. These options are potentially
hazardous and require significant use of energy, such as chemically treated pine,
heat-treated woods,
and synthetically developed composite decking materials made from plastics.
The Wood Species we utilize to Create the Decking.
Black Locust
Black Locust is the strongest and most
rot-resistant wood indigenous to
North America. It makes an
incredibly resilient and durable decking material that will remain beautiful and withstand years of outdoor exposure.
The wood is naturally
rot-, decay-, mildew-, and insect-resistant - the perfect choice for outdoor
projects in all climates.
Teak
The growing environment has given the species a spectacular adaptation so that it can easily withstand.
climate variations.
Either snowing in the North or heat in the South, your teak deck stands firmly and
beautifully. This feature is due to its natural oil content, Teak’s oily characteristics also protect the species from insects, bacteria, and termite invasion. Interestingly enough, despite its oily feel, a teak deck is slip-resistant in wet areas for foot traffic, so you don’t need to worry about unfortunate accidents.
Additionally, teak decks will not crack or warp.
Sassafras
Easy to work with, has wonderful grain detail, and is rot-resistant as tropical hardwoods such as teak. Sassafras makes a great decking product for any environment. Its low movement stats make it a wonderful option for areas with extreme moisture changes throughout the year. The wood takes stain easily and gives its high quality.
Cedar -Red and Yellow
Cedar is a versatile and durable softwood that is prized for many reasons. It is naturally
weather and insect-resistant gives off a pleasant and recognizable scent, and is
aesthetically attractive to look at.
Cedar hardly shrinks, swells, warps, or decays, even when there are severe changes in
weather, enabling it to withstand many conditions. It cuts easily, works easily,
as well as paints and stains very well.
